With all of this focus on Billy Shaheen’s comment on Obama’s alleged past drug use, there hasn’t been much discussion of the potential impact on the Senate race.
My view on this is that it will have a slight negative impact, perhaps more so if Obama wins
in New Hampshire. Actually, it may appear that
Mark Penn (who should be fired) may have had a greater hand in this dustup. But if this race gets close, this blunder could be a factor.
What do you think the impact will be?
…it’s waaaaaaay too small time to matter long term. Most people don’t care about politics, and what they do care about are big issues and candidates’ character and temperament. Come next November, virtually no voters will even remember that this never happened–only the most obsessive political junkies like we who frequent this site will remember.
Besides, if and when it’s clear Obama is the presumptive nominee then Bill and Jeanne Shaheen will endorse him wholeheartedly, and Obama will forgive and forget the dust-up and embrace them.
Trust me, this doesn’t hurt Jeanne one iota. Not even slightly.
at least not shaheen. i know it’s early, but has she started campaigning, or is she waiting until after the primary?
If Shaheen was facing a competitive primary. And with all due respect to Jay Buckley, he’s not going to win. So once people start focusing on the Shaheen v. Sununu race, the democratic primary will be long over and this story will be long over.
chances. That woman will be absolute posion in tough districts like TX-22, IN-09, GA-08, PA-10, and FL-16.
New ARG poll coming out showing Sununu has jumped back in front 52%-41% over Jeanne Shaheen.
Maybe this wasn’t such a sure bet for Democrats after all.
We’ll have to see other polls before drawing conclusions.
